A New Variety of Euphorbia milii ‘White Shine’ with Yellow Cyathophyll
Abstract
A new variety of Euphorbia milii ‘White Shine’ was developed at Cactus & Succulent Research Institute, Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services (GARES) in 2022. E. milii ‘White Flash’ and E. milii ‘Red Light’ were crossed in 2016. ‘White Flash’ has white cyathophylls and produces many lateral shoots, while ‘Red Light’ has red cyathophylls. One seedling was selected, and its progeny was evaluated for specific characteristics through pedigree selection, and the final selection was made in 2022. The variety ‘White Shine’ has yellow (RHS color chart, 157C) cyathophylls, and it has 10.7 each of lateral shoot, 12.8 cm of plant height, and 1.4 cm of cyathophyll width. These morphological characteristics of the variety can be maintained through vegetative propagation of lateral shoots.
