A New Cultivar of Rebutia sp. ‘Pink Pie’ with Pink Flower
Abstract
The new cultivar Rebutia sp. ‘Pink Pie’ was developed at Cactus & Succulent Research Institute, Gyeonggi-do A.R.E.S in 2021. GR0992-8 has red flowers and R. crianza has fink flowers with soft spines were crossed in 2014 and we got 45 seedlings from this combination. Through the selection from 2015 - 2018, three breeding lines were selected. ‘GR14121-45’ was finally selected through 3 years testing on specific characteristics from 2019 and named as ‘Pink Pie’. The flowers of new cultivar ‘Pink Pie’ has Pink (RHS color chart, N66B) color which diameter were 4.9 cm and produced 20.4. Plant body of ‘Pink Pie’ has round shaped with green (139B) based color. Diameter of ‘Pink Pie’ plant body was 58.9 mm which was larger than R. ‘Red Pie’. ‘Pink Pie’ has short spines and produced 19.1 offsets. Morphological characteristics of this cultivar can be maintained through vegetative propagation of offsets.
