A New Cultivar of Phalaenopsis spp. ‘Pink Talk’ with Light Purple Colored Flower

Abstract

A new cultivar of Phalaenopsis spp. ‘Pink Talk’ was developed at Cactus & Succulent Research Institute, Gyeonggi-do A.R.E.S. in 2021. ‘Pink Talk’ was crossed between Phalaenopsis ‘Little Jam Streep’ and Phalaenopsis ‘#1026’ and seedlings were gained from the seedlings in 2015. ‘GP15170-9’ was selected in 2017 and it had tested for specific characteristics from 2019 to 2021 and one cultivar named as ‘Pink Talk’ was finally selected in 2021. The cultivar ‘Pink Talk’ has light purple (N78C) colored pental and briloliant red-purple (61A) colored labellum on the white (NN155C) ground. The shape of the flower and apical lobe is spreading and triangular, respectively. ‘Pink Talk’ produces 24.5 flowers per plant and flower stalk length, flower width and leaf length was 21.3, 6.4, and 17.3 cm, respectively. Morphological characteristics of this cultivar can be maintained through vegetative propagation by making clones..
